About Scintilla
Each Scintilla panel is internally structured to have thousands of light conducting channels. These optical pathways activate the panels giving them a magically interactive surface which responds to the shadows, movements, lights and colors around it - no power needed!

- cladding
The outer face and back layers of the panel product, sandwiching the core. The front cladding is typically clear or a transparent color. The rear cladding has options for clear, transparent or dichroic colors, and clear or transparent color mirrors. Either side can be finished in glossy, frosted or matte surfaces.
- core
The center portion of the panel product, sandwiched between a face and back cladding. Typically patterned to influence light by reflection, refraction, transmission, diffusion and dissipation.
- grain
The direction in which the panel core strips run. Typically parallel to the long or short edge, customer specified. Influences how the panel is illuminated.
- grain thickness
The thickness of the core strips that make up the grain in a panel product.
- HD
High Density with regard to the terminals on Terrazzo products. It has the greatest density.
- light conducting channels
Optical pathways designed to direct light from one point and diffuse at another location. Constructed from acrylic.
- light guides
See light conducting channels.
- light point
In Lumina panels, the illuminated facet on the face of the product created by a light source and the paterns in the core strips.
- light point density
In Lumina panels, the count of light points per square foot on the face.
- pattern density
The percentage of the patterning per unit area in a panel product. The greater the precentage, the denser the pattern and more visual obscurity through the transparent panel.
- SC
Sensitile Cement with regard to our Terrazzo products.
- terminal
In terrazzo products, the visible portion of the light conducting channel on the surface. Typically rectangular, but can be round or square. Size, shape and density are customer specified.
